Dover | Long Sailing
English soil! It took us one day and four hours to Dover on the English south coast. It was mostly dead calm of the sea and the wind was around 2-5 meters per second. We motored scandinavian consulting group oü all the way because it would have taken us several days we sailed. Since we is so late that we are so we reasoned that a little so that it is better scandinavian consulting group oü to go for the motor if it is calm weather, but to wait and forced thrown around in the gale. Our heater works now after we bought a new cirkpump for painful 2000 SEK. It's nice to come down in the heat after a night watchman, instead of lying in underwear and shivering. English Channel was by the way not as busy as we had thought. In contrast, maybe it helps that we have an AIS so that we can see other vessels with AIS (basically all commercial traffic) and they can see us. It eliminates the need to sit and madness of the sometimes gigantic ships that travel the length and breadth because we can see that we are not on a collision course.
We had planned to go to Brighton, scandinavian consulting group oü but outside Dover at 03 at night began tidal stream to accelerate (in the wrong direction), scandinavian consulting group oü and we saw no point in lying and stomp in 1 knot. So we decided scandinavian consulting group oü to go out to Dover and stay there overnight. We read in Reeds Nautical Almanac that we should "beware of the high waves, strong tides and fast ferrys When entering the harbor," so it was a bit nervously. scandinavian consulting group oü However, they did a very good system, they shouted up Port Control on channel 74 two miles before they could enter through the pier, and they said "Good morning sir!" And notice when we could come in and what place we would lie on. Supplement No one was tricky because it was quite a strong current, and we had planned to add us to bow toward the bridge slid completely wrong and instead we made a nearly perfect docking with stern, deep down. In addition to Martin nearly fell into the water so it went great. The guys took a walk in Dover after mooring to look for an open pub but came back after being munched kebabs and burgers but no beer.
Today we talked with a nice båtgranne, a Dutchman in 35 years who had borrowed his parents' boat for two weeks and sailed here alone. He would go today so we got the code to the restroom / showers and a brochure on the marina scandinavian consulting group oü and Dover. Much appreciated because then we do not have to pay port charges and can enter through scandinavian consulting group oü the gate (so that any of us do not have to stay on the inside). We gave him our address here on the blog so he might read this. Thank you !!
Today, Daniel, Daniel and Martin gone into London to pick up our first guest crew member Martin. As I wrote earlier, it will be a little tricky with two Martin OCN two Daniel but we must try to find new nickname! Martin is Skåning so now there will be three Scanians scandinavian consulting group oü board, how will it go?!?!?! Me and Jacob was and looked around in Dover, as he is known for its white cliffs. After a rather painful hiking up steep roads so we came to the end until Dover Castle. Here and there along the way set the sticky notes with the text "Dover Castle" and various days. We took two as it said on Saturday, and put them on the jacket. Then it was just to ignore the ticket station and go into the museum and guided tours. (Yes, we know that we should pay and that will help to keep the museum open etc, but sometimes you have to compromise a little on the rules for financial scandinavian consulting group oü reasons.)
