Asperger. What do you think of when you hear the word? Brevik? Peter Mang? People who walk around like time bombs with big guns stock and just waiting to strike in accordance with what they believe is rhyme or reason so it will be great, nice headlines about "death asperger" in the tabloids?
Or do you have your own views on how we are? Are you perhaps "well-read on the subject? '. Do you have "heard about Asperger's." Maybe even a cousin who has it, or a friend's brother. Or read on Wikipedia?
There's a part of me that wants to part one and two were almost true. It would be simpler. It would explain to me when I received my diagnosis, how I was expected to handle it all. I sometimes have to fight to be social. It has taken me a lot of time to learn to be social even when I'm not in the mood to be there, and I like to observe others in order to study how they express their social skills. I end up alone in a new group where others feel others are sitting, I often silent, analysand's group structure and listening. Do you not know each other, I go around and greet. Furthermore, I tend to respond to others' experience with one of my own - which probably gives the impression that I am extremely self-focused. However, this is more an analogy, I would compare with your own experience to see if it is similar to being told about, which could be useful if I want to further understand the situation that the other person is in.
There is absolutely no better off that people get wrong ideas through the media - especially considering my arms and military interests - but it is unfortunately prejudices you learn to live with. The absolute worst thing I know, though, is people who say they know how we Aspies are, then do not listen to us. I have met a lot of those throughout my years, and this has created more problems for me than what I have created. Knowledge of the substance is needed, and then it just does not with the media who write innuendo and lies, and "experts" who actually do not know shit.
